It doesn’t take much of a reason to get me to Las Vegas. I think I’ve visited close to twenty times and stayed at over ten hotels on and off the strip. My second wedding took place about a half hour from the strip at Red Rock Canyon. I do like me some Vegas.
Therefore it didn’t take much arm twisting to attend this years Planet Microcap Showcase. 110 companies were represented at the event which is an overwhelming number. I was able to hear from just over ten percent of them which was a very useful way to spend my time.
The organizers whom I’ve thanked via tweet deserve enormous credit for putting on a great event. In my earlier career I’ve put on similar sized events and when one chairs the organizing committee in the leadup, presents at the event and also acts as the host, it can be a grueling week. From what I understand the event was also exponentially larger than previous years, and I can tell you from a participant it was exceptionally well run.
From a personal attendee standpoint, I’d probably do things a little differently next year. First, I would not fly in two nights early to Vegas of all places. I also would not attend as many presentations for stocks which I’m already an owner of - but instead try to learn about more new companies than I did. With that said, I did get a lot out of the event. It was great to meet Robert, Ian and Ryan from Planet Microcap, and it was a very cool experience bumping into many of my subscribers and hearing stories on how I have helped them on their own investing journeys. Best of all I didn’t run into any haters, as there certainly had to have been a few in attendance.
Here is my recap of the presentations and interactions with the companies I did see at the event. It’s a rather detailed and lengthy one, so get comfortable.
